Women’s Basketball comes in at No. 4 in First Central Region Ranking

INDIANAPOLIS -- In the first 2017-18 NCAA regional rankings, the Augustana women's basketball team sits at No. 4 in the Central Region, the national office announced Wednesday.

Southwestern Oklahoma State (22-1) is the top-ranked team in the Central Region, followed by Central Missouri (18-2), MSU Moorhead (21-3) Augustana (21-2) and Northern State (21-4) rounding out the top five.

The Central Region is made up of team from the NSIC, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) and the Great American Conference (GAC). The top eight teams in the final Central Region rankings advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament which takes place March 9-12. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, MIAA and GAC postseason tournaments, leaving the five remaining spots open for at-large bids.

The NCAA Women's Basketball Selection Show is set to air on NCAA.com at 9 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, March 4.

The NCAA Central Region Tournament is played at the Central Region's top-seeded home arena with the Elite Eight Quarterfinal, Semifinal and Championship games taking place at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls.

Augustana closes their regular season with two road contests, taking on Winona State on Friday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. and Upper Iowa on Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. The Vikings have already clinched a share of the NSIC South division title and has clinched the No. 1 seed in the South.
