SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana University head volleyball coach
Jennifer Jacobs announced Wednesday the signing of transfer student-athlete Kathryn Nasby to continue her academic and athletic career at Augustana.
Nasby, a native of Jackson, Minnesota, is transferring to Augustana from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, where she was a two-year letterwinner and starter. She played in 60 matches over the last two seasons as a defensive specialist for the Knights. In two seasons at Wartburg, Nasby recorded 694 digs, 117 assists and 39 service aces. During the 2016 season, she recorded 474 digs and 31 aces on her way to IIAC All-Conference honors. Nasby was named IIAC Defensive Player of the Week twice during the 2016 campaign.
"We are extremely excited to have Kathryn join our program," Jacobs said. "She will be a strong addition to our defensive core and has an infectious, intense love for the game. Her energy is contagious and it's a blessing to have her in our gym."
Nasby is a 2015 graduate of Jackson County Central High School where she earned first team all-state honors as a senior. She earned all-state honorable mention honors as a junior and earned all-academic honors in four straight seasons while also being a member of the National Honor Society.
Nasby is the third member of the 2017 Augustana volleyball signing class, joining Abby Benson (Jackson, Minnesota) and Izzy Sommers (Rogers, Minnesota) who signed with the Vikings earlier this year.
Augustana volleyball finished 27-6 in 2016, making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2008. The Vikings won their first round NCAA Tournament game, marking the program's first tournament win since 2006.
Located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Augustana University is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
