LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Tahlyr Banks, a senior libero for the Augustana volleyball team, has earned Third-Team All-America honors, the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced Tuesday afternoon.

"Tahlyr is an amazing player and young women. I am so grateful I was able to coach her for her final season at Augustana and the All-American award tops off her unbelievable impact she has made on this program," head coach Jennifer Jacobs said. "I'm very proud of her and I am so excited for what her future holds."

Banks was named to the AVCA Central Region First-Team last week and is the 8th member of the Augustana volleyball program to receive All-America honors. The last Viking volleyball player to receive All-America honors was outside hitter Courtney Ysker in 2013.

Using an NSIC-leading 632 digs, the Omaha, Neb. product was second in the conference with 5.31 digs-per-set and acquired the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week honor twice this season. During Banks outstanding senior season, she became the all-time digs leader in Augustana volleyball history with 2,407 and has been named to the NSIC All-Conference team three times.

The AVCA, with its headquarters in Lexington, Ky., is managed by Associations International. The mission of the AVCA is to advance the sport of volleyball with AVCA coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy and professional development. The Vikings went 23-9 this season with wins over three top-10 teams and made it to the semifinal round of the NSIC tournament.
