BURNSVILLE, MINN. -- The Augustana volleyball team has earned the six seed in the 2017 NSIC conference tournament, the league announced Saturday night.
The Vikings (22-8, 13-7 NSIC) take on the No. 3 seed Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D. on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.
Augustana has now qualified for postseason play in three consecutive seasons and the first time under first year head coach
Jennifer Jacobs.
"Really proud of the team for grinding out the regular season," Jacobs said. "Making the NSIC playoffs is quite a feat as everyone knows in our conference and at this point it's anyone's ball game. We will take it one match at a time and go from there. We are excited."
The top eight teams in the final regular season NSIC standings make the conference tournament with the top four seeds hosting.
Concordia-St. Paul won the regular season conference title and is the No. one seed. The Golden Bears accumulated a 26-2 record overall with a 19-1 record in conference play.
Southwest Minnesota State is the second seed, followed by Northern State (3), Minnesota Duluth (4), Winona State (5), Augustana (6), Upper Iowa (7) and Wayne State (8).
The Wolves (23-5, 16-4 NSIC) defeated Upper Iowa, 3-0, on Friday and lost to Winona State, 0-3, on Saturday.
Augustana holds a 22-9-2 record over Northern State all time. The Vikings defeated Northern State earlier this season, 3-1, at the Elmen Center.
