BURNSVILLE, Minn.- Augustana women's tennis athlete Kornelia Staniszewska was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week released by the conference on Monday. This is the first player of the week award for Staniszewska.

The freshman from Opalenie, Poland won two matches in both singles and doubles this past weekend. Staniszewska defeated No. 6 Maria Josie Zehnder from Southwest Baptist on Saturday 6-3, 4-6, 7-6. On Sunday, Staniszewska was victorious against Lorena Rivas Jarolim from Northwest Missouri State 6-0, 6-0.

Teaming with Jessa Richards in No. 1 doubles, Staniszewska won against Christina Zentai and Lara Soares 8-3. Staniszewska and Richards won again 8-3 over Jarolim and Kaja Emersic, to improve to 9-1 on the season in doubles.

Augustana travels to Emporia, Kan. this weekend for matches against Emporia State and East Central.
