Twenty One Track and Field Athletes qualified for finals after day one of the NSIC Championship

MANKATO, Minn.- Augustana track and field opened the 2016 NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championship with 21 athletes qualifying for tomorrow's finals.

Olivia Montez Brown finished first in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.74 meters (18 feet, 10 inches). Including the pentathlon, today's long jump was Montez Brown's second title of the meet. Calliann Brunswig finished in fourth with a jump of 5.64 meters (18 feet, six inches).

Two Vikings men finished one and two in the men's 3000 meters. Keegan Carda finished first with a time of 8:29.11, while Glen Ellingson followed him crossing the line with a time of 8:32.19.

The women's Distance Medley Relay team of Annie Kruse, Avery Selberg, Brooke Devos and Emma Anderson finished in second with a combined time of 12:20.04.

The men's distance medley relay team of Nate Souther, Zach Tuschen, Alex Tietz and Nathan Schroeder came in third with a time of 10:25.35.

Kelsey Kaufmann came in fourth place in the women's high jump clearing the bar at 1.64 meters (five feet, 4.25 inches).

Leah Seivert finished in fourth in the women's 3000 meter run with a time of 9:49.38. The time is an NCAA provisional qualifier.

Carina Hofmeister broke her own school record in the preliminaries heat of the women's 200 meter dash with a time of 25.28 to qualify for the final heat.  

All four women competing in the women's 1000 meter run qualified for the finals. Emma Anderson finished in second with a time of 3:00.94, Annika Rotvold came in fifth with a time of 3:01.12, Carly Bauer crossed the line at 3:01.97 for sixth place and Courtney Hottovy finished in seventh with a time of 3:02.95.

Ryan Heuer won his heat and automatically qualified for the finals in the men's 60 meter hurdles crossing the line at 8.12 seconds. Dylon Van't Hof also qualified for the finals with a time of 8.40.

Irene Almarcha (8.80) and Montez Brown (8.93) both qualified for the finals in the women's 60 meter hurdles.   

Annie Kruse qualified for the finals in the women's mile run with a season best time of 5:14.33. Souther (4:23.63) and Schroeder (4:27.49) both advanced to the finals in the men's mile run.

Charissa Etrheim won her heat in the women's 600 meter dash with a time of 1:38.85 to qualify  for the finals. Brooke DeVos also qualified for the finals with a time of 1:38.53.

Josh Barrows ran the fastest time in the men's 600 meter dash crossing the line with a time of 1:22.65. Zach Jones also qualified for the finals with a personal best time of 1:23.83.

Valerie Moos ran a time of 58.49 to advance to the finals in the women's 400 meter dash.

Justin Greenway and Jason Greenway both qualified for the men's 60 meter dash with Justin coming in at 6.92 and Jason finished at 6.98.

Ida Eltervaag finished with the second fastest times in the women's 800 meter dash with a time of 2:16.65. Avery Selberg came in with the fifth fastest time at 2:18.07, both times qualified for the finals.

The Vikings finish up the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championship tomorrow with events beginning at 10 a.m.
