SIOUX CITY, Iowa -
Kayla Mescher's provisional mark highlighted Augustana's first day at the Sioux City relays where three Vikings won events and several more earned spots in the finals on day two.
Mescher was one of three Augustana event winners, clocking a provisional time in the women's 400-meter hurdles. The Brighton, Colo. native finished the race with a 1;02.21 time to earn the first women's qualifying time of the season.
Aduo Omot nearly equaled his teammate's efforts, winning the men's 400-meter dash and narrowly missing a provisional mark. Omot clocked the top time with a 48.97-second run.
Carina Hofmeister continued her stellar sophomore campaign with a second-place finish in the women's 400-meter dash, recording the top Division II time at 56.62 seconds, less than a second shy of a provisional mark.
Anne Parsley followed her teammate with a sixth-place finish, taking just 58.57 seconds to finish her lap.
The women's distance medley relay squad of

Melissa Barella,
Emma Anderson, and
Cassidy Soli ousted rival Sioux Falls by nearly 20 seconds with a winning time of 12:26.57.
CJ Ham returned to form with a third-place finish in the men's shot put, falling just shy of a provisional mark. The junior's best heave landed 15.80 meters (51-10) from the circle, 20 centimeters shy of a provisional mark.
Zach Jones and
Ryan Heuer both clocked top-eight times in the men's 400-meter hurdles with Jones taking sixth in 55.24 seconds and Heuer placing eighth in 55.71. Heuer also earned a spot in tomorrow's 110-meter hurdles final with a qualifying mark of 15.61 seconds.
Augustana's women short sprinters turned in impressive qualifying performances in the 100-meter dash, qualifying four runners.
Kyerra Titus-Baer (12.73 seconds) led the way in third,
Colleen Everson (12.77) was one spot behind her in fourth,
Laura Popanz (12.80) in fifth and
Kirsten Nyberg (13.11) qualified in sixth.
Jason Greenway was the lone men's qualifier placing sixth in 11.01 seconds.
The men's and women's 4x100-meter relay teams both earned spots in tomorrow's finals with the women's squad clocking the top time in the prelims. Three squads recorded qualifying times in the 4x200-meter relay with the women earning two bids, including the top time, and the men recording a time fast enough for tomorrow's final.
Christine Campbell recorded the sixth-best triple jump mark, hitting 10.84 meters (35-6 ¾) to earn her top-eight finish.
The final day of the meet begins tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
