REGIONAL RANKINGS
INDIANAPOLIS - Augustana women's tennis debuted at No. 4 in the first Central Region rankings released Thursday morning. The Vikings are 9-0 against Division II opponents and 8-0 in matches against Central Region opponents and are the lone representative from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
Southwest Baptist checks in at No. 1 with a perfect 12-0 record in region play. Northeastern State is second with a 13-2 record and Central Oklahoma is No. 3 with a 12-2 in-region mark. In fifth and sixth, respectively, Northwest Missouri State and Emporia State round out the first edition of the Central region rankings.
The Central Region is comprised of the NSIC, the Mid-American Intercollegaite Athletics Association (MIAA) and the Great American Conference (GAC). The winner of the NSIC and MIAA tournaments will automatic bids to the NCAA Central Region tournament and the other two slots will be filled by at-large selections.
Augustana closes out conference season with a three-match set in Fargo, N.D. including a matchup with fellow NSIC undefeated Winona State. The Vikings first match will be on April 6 at 1:30 p.m. against MSU Moorhead before a doubleheader with Winona State and Northern State on April 7 beginning at 9 a.m.
