DAKTRONICS ALL-CENTRAL REGION
GOLDEN, Colo. – Augustana's
Ashley Meyer and
Chelsey Durland have been selected to the 2012 Daktronics All-Central Region first team, while
Matley Jones and
Jenelle Trautmann garnered second-team honors, the Division II College Sports Information Directors of America announced Tuesday.
The Central Region is comprised of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Meyer, a senior pitcher from Rapid City, S.D., leads the team with a 26-3 record and 1.54 ERA in 173.0 innings of work. She has struck out 132 batters while allowing only 22 walks. Meyer is currently 4-0 for the Vikings during 2012 postseason action. She was named to the 2012 All-NSIC first team and also earned a spot on the Daktronics All-Central Region first team in 2010 and 2011.
A senior from Maple Plain, Minn., Durland is a utility player for the Vikings, spending time at both first base and pitcher. She leads the nation in saves with 14 and is Augustana's all-time leader with 17. Durland has pitched 91.0 innings and has a 6-1 record, 2.00 ERA and 72 strikeouts. She is batting .263 in 2012 and has two home runs, two doubles and 13 RBIs. This marks her first appearance on the all-region team.
Jones is a freshman from Lincoln, Neb., and is second on the team in batting average at .384. The shortstop has nine doubles, eight home runs, 36 RBIs and three stolen bases. Jones has just 12 strikeouts in 125 at bats and was a 2012 all-conference first-team pick.
Trautmann, a redshirt freshman, has started all 61 games in 2012 and is batting a team-best .399 with 56 RBIs. The designated player from Hastings, Minn., is second on the team with 16 home runs and 15 doubles. Trautmann has been in the circle 139.0 innings and has a 19-6 record. She also has 121 strikeouts and a 2.42 ERA. Trautmann was named the 2012 NSIC Freshman of the Year and was chosen to the All-NSIC first team.
Meyer, Durland and all other first-team honorees will advance to the ballot for the Daktronics All-America team.
Augustana (51-10) hosts Concordia University, St. Paul (33-21) at 2:30 p.m. Friday for the Central Super Regional.
