SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana head soccer coach
Brandon Barkus announced Wednesday the signing of four student-athletes for the 2012 season. Taylor Brownrigg (Lakeville, Minn.), Caroline Renner (Overland Park, Kan.), Kirsten Smith (Omaha, Neb.) and Meg Thacker (Omaha, Neb.) have signed Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Augustana.
“I love getting student-athletes who play on high-level club teams, and that is exactly what I got with this recruiting class,” Barkus said. “Although this is the smallest group I have brought in within the last six years, the quality is exceptional, and these players will impact the team immediately by challenging for starting positions the first day of fall camp.”
Brownrigg is a center midfielder, Renner is a midfielder/forward, Smith is a forward/midfielder and Thacker is a midfielder.

“In addition to being tremendous students, all four of these athletes are on teams that participate in either the Midwest Regional League or Elite Clubs National League. Their club experience makes them familiar to playing at a fast and physical pace, which I believe will truly raise our overall level of play as a team.”
Augustana finished the 2011 season with an overall record of 10-9-0 and was sixth in the final NSIC standings, going 7-6-0 in conference action. The Vikings were eliminated in the opening round of the NSIC/U.S. Bank Tournament by Minnesota Duluth.
Located in Sioux Falls, S.D., Augustana College is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
