SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Head coach Mike Aldrich announced Wednesday the Augustana football team has added 34 recruits for the 2012 season.
Wednesday is the first day of the signing period for all NCAA football programs.
The 2012 list includes student-athletes from Minnesota (14), South Dakota (8), Iowa (5), Colorado (4), Nebraska (2) and Florida (1). The class also includes 10 offensive linemen, five wide receivers, four defensive backs, four defensive linemen, two tight ends, two linebackers, two running backs/wide receivers/kick returners, one quarterback, one running back, one linebacker/defensive lineman, one tight end/defensive lineman and one defensive back/athlete.

"We are excited about this very talented class of student-athletes; as you look at all of their many accomplishments, nothing but greatness is in store for the future of our program,” Aldrich said. “To be able to attract this caliber of student-athlete is a testament to our program, our coaches and all that is great about Augustana."
The 2012 signing class is the largest under Aldrich, who completed his second season as head coach in 2011.
Augustana posted its fourth-straight winning season in 2011, finishing 6-5 overall. The Vikings' 6-4 conference record placed them seventh in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference; Augustana's 4-2 division mark tied the Vikings for second in the South.
Located in Sioux Falls, S.D., Augustana College is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
