SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Kyle Blakeslee won the women's race and Travis Beniak took the men's Friday night at the inaugural Augustana Twilight at Yankton Trail in Sioux Falls.

The two Viking runners each won in commanding fashion. Blakeslee navigated the three-mile women's course in 16:50.46, bettering Ashley Unruh (unattached) by more than seven seconds. Beniak, who ran unnattached, covered the four-mile men's route in 18:55.63, nearly five seconds quicker than Robert Brockmueller (unattached).

No team scores were kept.

Yankton Trail was illuminated by lights normally reserved for soccer fields. Glow sticks brightened darker portions of the trail not fully covered by the lights.

The Viking women were dominant at the event. Annie Pfiefle (17:00.04) placed third, while Leah Hanson (17:11.35) was fourth. Kelly Kougl (17:25.39) finished sixth, and Gabi Swoboda (17:26.21, unattached) logged a seventh-place finish.

Other Viking women in the top 20 were Megan Brown (17:59.87, 16th) and Maddy Jourgenson (18:06.83, 18th). Both ran unattached.

For the men, Paul Yak complimented Beniak's performance with a fourth-place finish at 19:22.04. Ryan Evans (19:36.49) took fifth, while Adam Braun (19:38.39, unattached) finished sixth.

TJ Gleason (19:49.50, 13th) and Shane McCallum (20:17.25, 20th) rounded out the top-20 Viking men's finishers. Both were unattached.

Augustana returns to action on Sept. 24 when the Vikings travel to the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis.
