12 from Augustana are All-NSIC

BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The 2011 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference performers were determined at last weekend's conference meet, and 12 Augustana athletes earned the honor. The top three place winners in each event were deemed all-conference.

Five of the 12 Vikings were All-NSIC in more than one event.

Runa Falch was also named the NSIC Women's Track Athlete of the Year and was the women's high-points performer. Tracy Hellman was tabbed the NSIC Women's Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Falch amassed 30 points for the Vikings at the NSIC Championship, winning the 1,500-meter run, 5,000-meter run and 10,000-meter run.

Hellman was named the conference's top women's coach after leading the Vikings to their first outdoor title in women's history. It was also the first outdoor track and field title for Augustana since 1942 when the Viking men won the North Central Conference.

The Vikings will travel to Modesto, Calif., on May 26 for the NCAA Championship.
