This week: The Augustana men’s golf team takes to the road this weekend to kick off the season, competing at the 2010 NSIC Fall Preview in Hudson, Wis., on Sunday and Monday.
Tee off: The 2010 NSIC Fall Preview is hosted by Concordia University and will be held at the Troy Bourne Golf Club. Play is scheduled to begin on Sunday and conclude on Monday.
Who’s back: The Vikings return seven players, including junior standout
Eric Hieb, who was named All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honorable mention last season. Hieb played in all eight events, finishing last season with a 76.3 stroke average in 18 rounds.
Paul Barduson and
Julean Michels will help lead the team as seniors.
Newcomers: Augustana welcomes four new players to this season’s roster.
John Grothe and
Kyle Koplin are both natives of South Dakota, while
Grant Kallevig joins the Vikings from Minnesota.
John Cantril enters the roster as a junior, having played the previous two seasons for Iowa Western Community College.
Coaches corner: Rick Krsnak enters his fifth season as head coach for the Vikings men’s golf team.
Looking back: Last season Augustana finished seventh in the NSIC Tournament.
Up next: The Vikings travel to St. Cloud, Minn., Sept. 19 and 20 to take part in the Husky Classic.
