SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Augustana volleyball team held its first practice of the season Monday morning in the Sanford Gymnasium on campus. Third-year head coach
Ashley Buckley ran her team through drills beginning at 8:30 this morning. The Vikings are scheduled to practice again at 2 p.m.
Thirteen student-athletes reported for fall camp; they will follow a mostly two-a-day practice schedule until classes begin on Sept. 8.
The Vikings, who return five starters from last season's squad, finished the 2009 campaign with a 14-18 overall record and tied for seventh place in the final Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings with a 9-11 mark in conference play.
Augustana was picked sixth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll released last week.
The Vikings open the 2010 season on Sept. 3 when they travel to the Oredigger Classic in Golden, Colo., for four matches. The Vikings' first conference match is at home on Sept. 17 against Upper Iowa.
