Augustana basketball player Cody Schilling has been named All-American Honorable Mention according to the Division II Bulletin. Also, Cameron McCaffrey and women's basketball player Alex Feeney were named to the All-Freshman Team.
Schilling was Augustana's leading scorer and rebounder this past season as he averaged 15.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. An All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and All-Central Region First Team selection, Schilling compiled 10 games in which he scored over 20 points. In NSIC overall statistics, Schilling was 12th in the league in scoring and 11th in rebounding.
The 2008-09 NSIC Freshman of the Year, Schilling was a key force in the Vikings run to the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championship game. In three regional tournament games, He averaged 19.7 points and 7 rebounds per contest. Twice he scored over 20 points, and as a result, was named to the all-tournament team.
McCaffrey made a big splash in the NSIC this season and was named NSIC Freshman of the Year. The freshman from Hillsboro, Ore., is second on the club in scoring, averaging 12.9 points per game in addition to ranking second in 3-pointers with 50 and third in assists with 57. He accumulated these stats while coming off the bench and averaging 20.1 minutes per game.
Feeney started every game for Augustana this season and also earned NSIC Freshman of the Year honors. She is fourth in the team in scoring with 10.3 points per game and is second on the club in rebounding, pulling down 5.6 boards per contest. Feeney scored in double-figures 17 times, including a career-high 21 points against Bemidji State on Jan. 10. She led the team in blocks with 29 on the season.
