ROUNDS 1-2 RESULTS
ST. PAUL, Minn. - Augustana holds a 46-stroke lead over the next conference team at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship after carding a second-round score of 307 on Sunday for a two-day total of 615. The Vikings also own the top three individuals in
Maggie Leland,
Emily Kvidera and
Molly Leland, who are in first, second and third, respectively. The first two rounds were played at the Hillcrest Country Club in St. Paul, Minn.; the final two rounds of the tournament will be completed this spring.
Augustana is 46 strokes better than Concordia University, St. Paul (661) and 49 better than Minnesota State (664). The Vikings won the Championship last season.
The Vikings' commanding advantage is the result of balanced play. All of Augustana's golfers are in the top 10.
Maggie Leland finished 1-over-par on Sunday for a two-round score of 7-over 151 to hold the lead. Kvidera shot identical rounds of 77 and is in second with a 10-over 154.
Molly Leland rounds out the trio with a 12-over 156--good enough to tie her for third.
Kate Tobin is tied for fifth after firing a 16-over 160, while
Allie Ostrander is tied for seventh after shooting a 17-over 161. Ostrander was leading after the opening round after recording a 3-over par 75 on Saturday.
Augustana is also 38 strokes ahead of Western New Mexico. WNMU and Mesa State (Colo.), both Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference programs, are competing in this fall portion of the Championship for regional ranking purposes.
The final two rounds of the tournament will be played at Brandon Golf Club in Brandon, S.D., this spring.
