Final Results
The Augustana men's golf team put together its best round of the tournament as the Vikings finished in 12th place at the RMAC Men's Golf Championships Tuesday in Buckeye, Ariz. The meet served as a head-to-head competition for schools from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Augustana was in 14th place after 2 rounds, but the Vikings carded a 320 on Tuesday to finish the 54-hole tournament with a team score of 983, which tied them with Concordia-St. Paul. Colorado-Colorado Springs edged host Western New Mexico by 1 stroke for the team title. UCCS finished with a 900, while Western New Mexico had a 901.
Individually,
Jon Emerson, was the top finisher for the Vikings. After entering the day tied for 55th place, Emerson shot a 76 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 43rd place at 241.
Julean Michels was next in for the Vikings, finishing in a tie for 54th place at 249.
Aaron Hieb was the only other Viking to break 80 in the final round, carding a 78 to finish at 255, good enough for 65th place.
Adam Winans of Upper Iowa took home medalist honors by shootin an even-par 216.
