The Augustana volleyball team slid two spots to No. 7 in this week's NCAA Division II Central Region rankings, the NCAA announced today. The Vikings were ranked No. 5 two weeks ago when the last rankings were released.
Augustana is 21-10 overall this season with a regional record of 15-9. The Vikings went 3-3 since the last regional rankings. Two of those losses came to top-ranked Concordia-St. Paul and No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State.
Concordia, Southwest Minnesota State and Nebraska-Kerney held onto the top three spots in the rankings, while Minnesota Duluth moved up two spots to No. 4. Minnesota State University, Mankato jumped into the top 10 at No. 6 after being unranked in the last regional rankings.
The top 8 teams in the region will advance to the NCAA Division II Central Regional Championships scheduled for next week. The playoff pairings will be announced Sunday night.
Augustana returns home this weekend for a pair of key NSIC matches. On Friday, the Vikings entertain Minnesota State University Moorhead in a 7 p.m. match. Then on Saturday, Augie entertains Minnesota, Crookston at 4 p.m. Both matches will be played in the Elmen Center.
