The third-ranked Augustana women's cross country team placed 16th out of 39 teams at the Chile Pepper Invitational Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark. The invitational featured many of the top teams in NCAA Division I cross country, as well as several other regional programs of note. The field contained 306 participants.
Texas Tech won the team championship (72 pts), defeating 2nd place Arkansas by 29 points. Sally Kipyego of Texas Tech claimed medalist honors with a time of 19:26.91.
Alyssa Anderson led the Vikings with a 45th place finish in 21:56.57.
Miranda Wagner finished 74th in 22:29.99, while
Molly Clark was 76th in 22:33.49.
Both the men's and women's cross country teams will be in action next Saturday. Both teams will compete at the NSIC Championships held in Aberdeen, S.D.
